Jan. 2024: Mr. Islam’s optimization study on optical dielectrophoretic (DEP) manipulation of an oil-immersed droplet was published in Micromachines (IF: 3.523).

Oct. 2023:  Dr. Park received the grant of $490,592 for the international collaborative work on high-sensitivity THz sensors for facility security and food safety, supported by Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, South Korea.

May. 2023: Dr. Park had an invited talk in the 18th International Conference on Nano/Micro Engineered and Molecular systems (IEEE NEMS 2023), Jeju, Korea, May 14 – 17, 2023.

Apr. 2023: Mr. Andrew Lin successfully defends his MSBioE thesis, entitled “Light-controlled droplet trapping, merging, and releasing in a PDMS-based microchannel device”.

Apr. 2023: Ms. Lee’s work on a 3D spatial focal control system was published in Optics Express (IF: 3.833).

Feb. 2023: A visiting scholar, Dr. Kwak, has joined our lab for collaborative work.

Feb. 2023: Mr. Janev’s work on a smartphone integrated paper (SIP) system for rapid and on-site screening of urinary tract infections was published in Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical (IF: 9.221).

Feb. 2023: Mr. Cheng-Hsun Lee successfully defends his MSME thesis, entitled “3D spatial focal control by arrayed optofluidic prisms”.

Feb. 2023: A graduate student, Daniel Arzate, has joined our group for the master’s degree study.

Jun. 2023: Mr. Lee’s work on a 3D spatial focal control system was accepted for an oral presentation in the 36th IEEE International Conference on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (IEEE MEMS 2023), Munich, Germany, Jan. 15 – 19, 2023.

Oct. 2022: Dr. Park had an invited talk about “a smartphone-based biosensor for water quality detection” in IEEE Sensors, 2022.

Aug. 2022: Mr. Athul Janev successfully defends his MSBioE thesis, entitled “A smartphone-integrated, paper microfluidic system for rapid and on-site diagnosis of urinary tract infections”.

Jul. 2022: A review paper on optoelectrowetting (OEW) technology was published in Lab on a Chip (IF: 7.517).

Jun. 2022: Mr. Janev’s work on smartphone-based detection of urinary tract infections (UTIs) was accepted for a poster presentation in the 26th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life Science (MicroTAS 2022), Hangzhou, China, Oct. 23 – 27, 2022.

Apr. 2022: A current JDP student, Yeonwoo Lee, has been awarded the 2022-2023 University Graduate Fellowship (UGF) from SDSU. Congratulations!!!

Mar. 2022: Mr. Sen, a new JDP student, has been awarded the 2022-2023 Presidential Graduate Research Fellowship (PGRF) from SDSU. Congratulations!!!
